چکیده

This paper deals with the analysis of adaptive Volterra filters, driven by the LMS algorithm, in the finite-alphabet inputs case. A tailored approach for the input context is presented and used to analyze the behavior of this nonlinear adaptive filter. Complete and rigorous mean square analysis is provided without any constraining independence assumption. Exact transient and steadystate performances expressed in terms of critical step size, rate of transient decrease, optimal step size, excess mean square error in stationary mode, and tracking nonstationarities are deduced.

Utilizing Kernel Adaptive Filters for Speech Enhancement within the ALE Framework

Performance of the linear models, widely used within the framework of adaptive line enhancement (ALE), deteriorates dramatically in the presence of non-Gaussian noises. On the other hand, adaptive implementation of nonlinear models, e.g. the Volterra filters, suffers from the severe problems of large number of parameters and slow convergence. Nonetheless, kernel methods are emerging solutions t...

Proportionate Nlms Algorithm for Second-order Volterra Filters and Its Application to Nonlinear Echo Cancellation

The performance of linear acoustic echo cancelers degrades if nonnegligible nonlinear distortion is introduced into the echo path as, e.g., caused by low-cost loudspeaker systems driven at high volume. Adaptive second-order Volterra filters are known to effectively model nonlinear acoustic echo paths. In this contribution we propose an extension of the proportionate NLMS (PNLMS) to second-order...

Desing And Implementation of Adaptive Active Filters for Exact Estimation And Elimination of AC Network Distortions

In recent years, active filters have been considered and developed for elimation of harmonics in power networks. Comparing with passive, they are smaller and have better compensating characteristics and resistance to line distortions. In this paper, a novel idea based on adaptive filter theory in presented to develop an active filter to eliminate the distortions of an arbitrary signal. Using th...

Mammogram Enhancement Using Quadratic Adaptive Volterra Filter- a Comparative Analysis in Spatial and Frequency Domain

Early breast cancer in women can be detected efficiently, by processing Mammograms in an effective way. Mammographic images are affected by noise which has low contrast and poor radiographic resolution based on illperformance of X-ray hardware systems. This leads to improper visualization of lesion detail. Generally Non-linear filters are preferred for image enhancement applications. Because th...
